Birds- and wildlife of varanger

Be mesmerized cruising the beautiful shoreline of Varangerfjorden by boat, in search for birds- and wildlife of the region.

Varangerfjorden hosts an ecosystem quite unique with a rich fishery all year round. During winter/spring the capelin migrating into the fjord, which brings whales such as fin whales, humpback whales and minkey whales. The fact that this is the Barentz sea, makes orcas, belugas, sperm whales and blue whales also on the list of possibilities, despite they are rare ones.

By navigating in the fjord, observations of pelagic birds, common or rare ones, are on the agenda too. In the shelter of the harbor the Arctic ducks like to float around. The Stellar, Eider, King Eider and Long-taled ducks. The white taled eagles are quite active at the seaside, as we try us out to the kittiwake colony if the weather allows it.

The scenery in this easternmost part of Arctic Norway is fascinating and different from anywhere else on earth. The view of the beautiful landscape from the seaside is stunning! It makes it easy to be distracted in search for wildlife.

You will be hosted by a team that are experienced sea captains, marine educated, bird lovers and serves quality authentic experience for the guests.

We look forward to being your host!
