Varanger Pelagic -
whales and seabirds
We cruise out from Vardø in Rib boat, to embrace the pelagic circus of the absolute easternmost tip of Arctic Norway at the Barents sea.
Drifting in the Arctic water around Hornøya is our goal for the activity.
Hornøya hosts seabirds of around 100.000 individuals. Shags, Common- and Brünnich Guillemots, Atlantic Puffins and Razorbills to mention some. Their loud wailing drown out all other sounds in the area. And to not mention the smell… This total experience is spectacular!
While drifting and beeing surrounded by large flocks of seabirds, we keep our eyes open for whales around.
During springtime, whales migrate for some periods to the areas around Hornøya and Varanger, due to good conditions in the feeding ground.
Species such as Humpback whales, Fin whales and Minke whales are to be seeing. Time to time orcas swim by. Once in a while even the Belugas are visiting the area.
You will be hosted by a team that are professionals, rootly bonded to nature and experienced in both bird watching and whale watching.
This activity is to be served with high quality and in a safe way, for you to feel taken care of and catered to.
We look forward to being your host!
