whales and seabirds

Drifting in the Arctic water around Hornøya is our goal for the activity.

Hornøya hosts seabirds of around 80.000 individuals. Shags, Common- and Brünnich Guillemots, Atlantic Puffins and Razorbills to mention. Their loud wailing drown out all other sounds in the area. And to not mention the smell… This total experience is spectacular! Real soul-touching!

While drifting and being surrounded by large rafts of seabirds, we keep our eyes open for whales around.
During winter and springtime, whales migrate for some periods to the areas around Hornøya and the Varangerfjord, due to good conditions in the feeding ground. The capelin gathers in the shallow waters, which is a delicacy to the whales! 

Species such as Humpback whales, Fin whales and Minke whales can be seeing. Time to time orcas swim by. Once in a while even the Belugas are visiting the area.

You will be hosted by a team that are professionals, rootly bonded to nature and experienced in both bird watching and whale watching.
